A Mischievous Smile

Woe to my soul for trusting a crude foe,

An idyllic personage that captivated my ego.

I never have thought that someone as innocent as you

Was hiding a snake biding for a coup.

Truly, in a world full of dishonesty,

Befriend with everyone but trust nobody.

Because even the person you thought was trust worthy

Will never think twice of stabbing you in times of difficulty.

They say nothing can destroy an iron except its own rust,

And none can shatter you more than the trusted’s gust.

In Earth’s woven tapestry, masks became a must,

Caution we embrace, safeguarding our soul’s robust.

An unsophisticated smile facing your way,

To be agitated you should be.

Because a lion so hungry

Will do everything to catch its prey.
